How do you imagine your life without legs to be? Become a snowboarder? Amy Purdy lost both her legs after a bacterial meningitis infection. She struggled to accept her new reality and battled depression only to overcome it all and turn her misfortune to success.
She built her own prosthetics to help her achieve her dreams of becoming a snowboarder. Not only did she turn her dream into reality, she also became a world champion female in snowboarding. In 2005, Amy co-founded Adaptive Action Sports, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping people with physical challenges to action sports. Her latest inspirational challenge taking on “Dancing with the Stars” and making it to the finals.
