Childhood Memories…

By Rasha Khatib

The warm sun encapsulates me

Braided hair, full of life and carefree

Swinging along with innocence across the street

Of my parents’ home on a hot summer day

Laughter and life filling the air

Like a jasmine scented blanket all over me

Dreams growing and reaching the bluest skies

Hopes of a child aided with a painter’s pallet

Blue, red and green bringing the horizon to life

But sadly, that is all it will ever be

A perfect painting in a little girls mind

Of a happy life full of love and laughter

It was all going to take place

Once upon a time…
