Muhammad Yunus the son of a jewelry maker was born in 1940 in Bangladesh. He grew up watching his mom’s compassion towards strangers, never turning away the needy. After graduating university from the U.S.A. he returned back to his beloved homeland that was exhausted with poverty.
He founded the Grameen Bank in 1979 which followed the concept of giving micro-finance and micro-credit to entrepreneurs that couldn’t qualify for regular loans. Through his hard work and dedication he made a big difference in the lives of many.
Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.
