Untrue Marriages

By Asif Barkhiya – From his  poetry book The Chronicles of Times

Lo! untrue marriages are but sad parables

where woman is sold with rich supplements—

no gracious rapport nor honest barter

but men without dower are far erroneous

And, there’s the flaw and spoil in affairs

which oft in distress snaps the nuptial knot

Such marriages be not miscalled sacred

but, mourning ceremonies and needful pleasures.
